Herkimer College's Crime & Intelligence Analysis A.A.S program gives you the knowledge, skills, and critical thinking you need to succeed in public and private careers in criminal justice. Graduates of the program often find jobs in local, state, or federal law enforcement or government intelligence agencies. The military and private contractors also hire intelligence analysts to deal with security issues. This program is a practitioner-based program developed by faculty with almost 30 years of experience in law enforcement.
In this program, you will develop research and analytical skills used in crime analysis or intelligence for criminal justice agencies, explore crime analysis and intelligence theories, build your analytical, writing, and team management skills, and also collect and analyze data to forecast criminal profiles to solve crimes and predict future crimes. Students will be able to take unique classes such as Profiling Serial Killers, Forensic Science, Crime Analysis and Crime Mapping.
Upon graduation, you'll be eligible to take the NYS certification exam to become a crime analyst for the Division of Criminal Justice Services.
The program will prepare you for jobs in the field of data and information science and security, which are expected to increase 19% by 2026. You’ll develop research and analytical skills used in crime analysis or intelligence; build your writing and team management skills; and collect and analyze data used to solve and predict crimes.
