The Master of Science in Information Science (MSIS) program at the nation's first-ever College of Emergency Preparedness, Homeland Security and Cybersecurity (CEHC) at the University at Albany provides a unique opportunity for interdisciplinary, experiential training that helps students hone the necessary skills to succeed in the expansive and fast-growing field of information science.
Our American Library Association (ALA)-accredited MSIS prepares students for careers in data science and intelligence analytics; public, academic, archival, and other private sector libraries; information and database management systems; and a wide range of government, corporate, and nonprofit organizations.
Unlike other graduate programs in information science, UAlbany’s curriculum provides a comprehensive experience that offers training in a choice of five distinctive applications in the information environment: information technology, data science, analytics, archives and records management, and library and information services. An additional internship requirement ensures programs graduates are well-rounded, ahead of the curve, and highly in demand for their skills and professionalism. The internship component provides 150 hours of direct experience working in an information services agency under the supervision of an on-site mentor.
