Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics AS

Cybersecurity professionals are the first line of defense in protecting the cyber network in fields as diverse as banking and finance, transportation, law enforcement, government, and homeland security. Analysts trained in digital forensics follow digital "fingerprints" to investigate electronic data on smartphones, GPS systems, and computer networks for evidence of crime.

The AS in Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics at Herkimer Community College will prepare students to work in the investigatory side of the field of cyber security. Digital forensic examiners are the first responders in cybercrime, corporate crime, identify theft, and cyber terrorism. Digital forensics tasks include identification of cyber threats and intrusions, assessment of cyberattack impacts, and cause and origin investigation.

As a student in Herkimer College's Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics AS degree program, you'll take a combination of criminal justice and computer technology courses to help you develop the skills needed to be a successful in this rapidly growing field. The curriculum prepares you to transfer into a four-year program to get a bachelor's degree. The number of jobs in this field is projected to grow 28% by 2026. Upon completion of the program, students are eligible to obtain CompTIA Security+ global certification.
